Quick Wash Day Recap & Hair Update

Hi ladies, been MIA for a while, been so busy with work. I am not slowly re-surfacing.

I am currently 15 weeks posts yay, and it has been ok really, still debating if I am touching up at 16 weeks, my goal was to stretch to 14 weeks, goals has been achieved and broken.

I have really been enjoying my hair, had BKO, twists, flat twists, twist out you name it!! So am happy there.

My wash days have been pretty standard

[1] Coconut oil pre poo

[2] Shampoo hair

[3] Deep conditioner with either ORS Replenshing or ORS HaiRepair DC (loving this stuff yay to balanced DC)

[4] Rinse, t-shirt dry, leave in conditioner and heat less style

Easy breezy wash days = happiness :D

The elasticity of my hair is amazing it really did show me how much texture I have in my texlaxed hair, the weird thing is I am not even having detangling issues, I spend 10 minutes max on wash days detangling…now I either have a matted mess in there somewhere or my hair and I are on the same team .

So if you follow me on Instagram @another.relaxed.chic you would have seen some of the styles I rocked during my blog hiatus, but here they are below.

Also I will be making a tutorial of the huge, high messy bun I did 2 weeks ago soon.

Though I have been quiet I have been stalking you guys are usual!

Custom Wig Review

About 3 months ago, I decided to get the 12" weave I had made into a wig.

I found a stylist that could do it for me, looking at her past work I was convinced I would get a really good wig out of her.

So I contacted her and made inquires then I measured my head and shipped my hair over to her, I opted for the 10 working day service.

As I had my wig maybe over the Easter period it did take longer but nonetheless 10 working days.

When I got it, I will not lie I wasn't very impressed. I ordered it with comb attachments but I didn't get them attached but had then included in post package but in a way I could not easily attach them myself.

Also the wig did not fit to my measurements, for that I have taken the blame, maybe I had not given accurate measures.

The way the hair was layered has my left side longer than my right, and there is a hump like effect at the crown on my head, my thoughts were because my own hair wasn't tucked in too well, but looking at it more it's because the size is too small and it gathers at the crown.

Anyway despite all this, I told myself to make the most if it, I have already paid for it and lessons have been learnt for future wigs.

Closure - 3 way closure

To correct the size and comb problem I used hair pins at the back and sides of my head, this has helped keep my wig in place. I will look at buying wig combs and attaching them in the future.

Hair pins added to edges of wig

For the weird layering I just try curling it and fluffing it out.

All in all it's a wearable wig, but next time I will not use the postal service and go there in person.

Wash day | Week 12

This is hopefully the last wash day before my touch up, why the doubt, I got sunburnt on my forehead and headline during my holiday and if am still peeling then my touch up will have to be pushed forward. Anyway here is how my wash day went:

[1] I removed my box braids and sectioned hair in 4, and applied coconut oil as my pre poo overnight

[2] I shampooed my hair with ORS Hair Repair Invigorating Shampoo, the bottle says it's sulphate free, but it contains a sulfonate ingredient, it also has rosemary and mint which is the smell that the product has.

[3] I DC with ORS Hair Repair, this DC has a strong banana smell, but just like my ORS Replenshing conditioner I LOVE it, it is a balanced conditioner. I used a heat cap for 30 mins and rinsed

[4] t-shirt dried my hair for 45 mins.

[5] sprayed aussie hair miracle leave in conditioner and tension dried my hair.

[6] moisturised with ORS Carrot Oil and sealed with grapeseed oil

Had a high messy mega bun for Saturday with the family.

How was your wash day?

Box braids and Vacation

Hey ladies, I have been MIA for a while, been so overwhelmed with work was so grateful when my vacation time came. I went to South Tenerife for a good week. All the cocktails, beach life, sea food oh I could get used to this life.

I felt ready and charged up when the week was over but alas all the laziness is back.

For my vacation I installed box braids. This was brilliant with all the swimming and splashing water all over myself due to the heat.

Enjoy some of my vacay photos below, I really enjoyed the sunshine and got a little sun burt on my forehead, I am due for a touch up next week, but given that the sun burn does affect my hair line as well, I will push my relaxer day a week forward until my burnt forehead stops peeling.

6 months NO heat challenge

I embarked on a no heat challenge for the last 6 months. It started on the 4th of January and ending on the 4th of July.

I can't say I really missed using heat, I have become so used to styling my hair with no heat. I did Bantu knot out, twist out, flexirod, buns etc

So what have I learnt on the way..
1. Using the cool setting on the blow dry to stretch my hair was a great discovery

2. I can also dry my sets using cool air.

3. Even though I was not using direct heat, I have to remember to protect my hair against the heat from the sun. Grapeseed oil is a great sun protectant.

4. My hair prefers to dry using cool air than natural air drying

5. Using week long protective styles helped through the challenge

I have really enjoyed this challenge. My plans going forward are to keep some form of a no heat challenge but not stretch it to as far as 6 months.

Here is my flat ironed hair results. Just is also my 6 months length check.

P.s you can tell my camera man wasn't close by. :p

Have you even done a no heat challenge?
